This small antique iron trivet may have once rested quietly on a wooden farmhouse table, waiting for a freshly baked loaf to cool after being taken from a wood-fired oven. Made from solid iron rods, such trivets were everyday essentials in rural kitchens — used for cooling bread, setting down hot pots or supporting cake tins straight from the hearth.
 
According to the previous owner, this piece is believed to date back to the Tsarist era. Its gently hand-bent ironwork and sun-like decorative centre are characteristic of early 20th-century utilitarian kitchenware.
 
Today it can once again serve its original purpose as:– a trivet for hot pots or teapots– a cake or bread cooling rack– a base for serving warm pastries– or simply as a rustic farmhouse accent in a vintage kitchen.
